Congratulations to ASFA-CW faculty member Kwoya Maples and the students in her poetry workshop this semester. The opening of their 3-D poetry exhibit, “Light and Terror,” was a smash success this past Friday evening! Blending the immediacy of visual art and the slow burn of poetry, the work offers the best of both creative worlds — all while achieving the underlying goal of exposing new and broader audiences to the lyrical properties of language. Many thanks to Space One Eleven, one of Birmingham’s premier contemporary art galleries, for curating and hosting the exhibit. The show will be open through May 13, so go check it out if you haven’t already had the opportunity!
